  1. What is Explore Front Page?

Explore is a Flickr feature which discovers and showcases some of the most awesome photos on Flickr. Explore Front Page is a common phrase used by Flickr users to indicate the home page of Explore.
  2. What does it mean to have photo(s) on the Front Page?

A score of people use Explore to find new photos on Flickr everyday. When a photo is on the Front Page, it is exposed to a huge audience of photo enthusiasts around the world. So, being on Explore Front Page is like being featured on the front page of a popular newspaper - your work gets noticed, people add you as their contact etc. You become famous overnight :)
  3. What is FP?

FP is an alias for Explore Front Page. It's commonly used in photo descriptions, comments and tags by Flickr users.
  4. What is Archivr?

Archivr is a third party application that tracks the photos displayed on Front Page. Using Archivr's search feature, users can find out if or how many of their photos have been on Front Page. (More features will be added soon)
  5. Why has none of my photos made it to the Front Page? (Please read 6 as well)

For your photo to be on the Front Page, it has to be on Explore first (Please use Scout to find your photos on Explore). But making it to Explore does not guarantee that your photo will be on Front Page. An algorithm randomly picks photos from Explore and displays them on a random cycle throughout the day. Cross your fingers.
  6. I am sure one (or some) of my photos were on Front Page. Why doesn't Archivr find them?

(If your photos were on Front Page before April 2009, please read 7)

On regular intervals throughout the day, Archivr checks the Front Page to see if/when new photos are displayed. Due to the unpredictable nature of Explore (interestingness), sometimes, photos are seen on Front Page for a short period. In such a case, Archivr just might miss collecting data for that photo. Thus, it make look like the photo was never on Front Page.
  7. Why does Archivr search for photos on Front Page only since April 2009?

Archivr started collecting Front Page data since April (April 7th, to be exact) 2009. If your photo was on Front Page before that, Archivr will not be able to find it.
  8. My photo was on Front Page but why doesn't Scout find it on Explore pages?

If Archivr found your photo (or if you saw it on Front Page), you can be 100% sure that it was on Explore at some point. However, Scout might not always capture Explore details for that photo. So you may sometimes see you photo on Front Page but not find it on Explore at all. For more information please read Explore/ Scout FAQ at bighugelabs.
  9. Why do some photo thumbnails show "THIS PHOTO IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE"?

There can be two reasons for this. The original photo that was on Front Page either has been:
Replaced with another photo. In this case, just go to the screenshot page of that photo. The thumbnail will be displayed thereafter.
    or
Deleted/ made private. If this is the case, there is currently no way to retrieve the thumbnail.
